After My Interview.....

“O God please help me” I was praying when that half an hour passes, receptionist call my name and told me to go inside where the HR was sitting. Again I took permission and went in, HR told me to sit down. When he starts talking my hands starts shivering I was really nervous……
“You get selected for this job, you can join us from Monday….. Congrats and all the best for your first job” this line was said by HR. which I always remember, when I listen this, my nervousness converts into happiness…..
I came out and I called my mom to give this good news, my mom also became very happy then I went back home.
Then Monday comes, first day of my job I was very excited I woke up early & got ready by 8:00 as I have to reached their by 9:30.
I reached office at 9:15 and first day of my job started……..

My 1st Poker Experience

I am not pro at cards. But my job demands me to know everything about cards and its games.1st time I played poker was in my office. It was Texas Holdem Poker. I did not even know what “Blinds” are. Texas Hold’em is most popular Poker game. I was assisted by Jessica who knew at least a bit more than I know about this game. Texas is played with 2 to 10 players. I took my 1stlessons by playing traditional live poker on table than going online. I realized although all the rules are same for live online and live poker, it has its own flavor. Both need different skills. In Online poker players cannot see their players. It’s difficult to figure who is your opponent and to gudge what kinda player he is.Only way to find out about your opponent in online game is by watching, analyzing there game habits (Tactics they use). In traditional poker you can see your players and most importantly you see their body language and can judge how to play.

Work – the first day!!
The night went by with a bit of twisting and turning with the alarm set to go off at 8:00 AM in preparation for my first day at work, I can definitely say that I did sleep very well.
I got a bit apprehensive that I might not be able to handle a full day at work, after like 2 weeks on holiday.
When the alarm went off, I got up but I do not think I have as much as 2 hours in every stretch of sleep all night starting from about an hour before midnight.
I did the essentials and got out just a few minutes after 10:00 AM with the plan to avoid the heavy traffic and the tailbacks between my house and the office.
Arrived a little late, T’was a brand new world. New parking lot, New office, New Chief, New faces, New workstation and a Brand New Life.
I was picked up from reception, introduced to a number of people and then linked up with the man who would be my main colleague. ..then came the spin!
Things worked differently here…from anyplace I have ever worked before, and I mean everything from dress code (the lack of it reallyJ) the attitudes and basically everything that comes with a job.
We breezed through that the tasks to be done and the issues or risks that might arise whilst double-checking tracks that are associated with an industry like this… and believe me
As far as possible, I tried to keep from getting over enthusiastic, the day accumulated in hours and I felt elevated all through to lunch.
At lunch I rushed to the closest “Subway” outlet and rushed right back
After lunch, we went through a few more tasks and individual responsibilities coupled with a few short recesses.
Time flies by and before I realized, it was 8 O’clock and a few minutes, I logged out and shut down my computer and bid everyone goodbye as I returned home, quite tired, definitely happy, got some food and thought about my day.

My 1st Day in Office

I had to reach office little early as had to submit documents. I was running behind time. Reached office. Did all document “procedures”. As to my observation I was not the only new joinee in my team but one more girl named Ruth. I met my manager. Got a brief introduction about my work and “work culture”. I was trying to understand what was been discussed in the meeting. Half of which were jargons for me. And it would have been unfair with myself if I would have had expected to understand everything on the 1st few hours. My manager talked about future prospects. Overall I got the idea its gonna be really interesting as I will have to work a lot with fun (which interests me)!!!
Before leaving for the day manager asked me what did I feel about job? I found it too early to. And then with no delay of time i understood why that question had come .I was given an option to leave the job if I find it unable to manage with the work, way of doing it and its pace.
Things which made me think about it on the 1st day itself were weather to believe in everything or not?

15th September...

What does anyone do in their first day of the new job… specially if it’s your first job..

You go through am orientation process where you are briefed about the company and the policies and the work profile…?

You go through the basic training..?

You are given some very basic documents related to your profile and asked to do analysis..?

Well I did none of these… not even anything closely related to this….

In the first half in a very informal way we were introduced with the other new and existing members of our team… that was really an interesting session and a very entertaining one… never in college also we got introduced in such a fun and learning way… after that session I felt as if I everyone of there from quite a few days. No more team members sounded like acquaintances, It was like getting to know someone that otherwise would take you quite a few interactions.

Then comes the most amazing part… the second half we were playing cards… yes we played POKER and were getting used to the poker lingo. Now that sounds interesting… isn’t it..? it’s like in automobile industry you are put through the practical part of your knowledge and here in the gaming industry you first learn to play it yourself….

15th September 2010

Finally that day came for which I was waiting for last 1 week; it was my first day in my office. I reached 15 minutes early because I doesn’t wanted to get shouting on very first day. There were more 10 new joinees with me. I deposited our phone with office boy as we were not allowed to carry our mobile phones in office premises. I dint know where my team sit so I was waiting for my team lead to come and guide where is my sitting place. We all new joinees were waiting in waiting room. Exact at 9.30 am door opens and I was able to see a guy with average height in formals introduced himself as our team lead and after that he asked us to follow him. We all went to a conference room which is called as DEN. When I entered that room already there were five peple were siting there those were old joinees. We all intriuced ourself. We had brief intro about ur company and finally all joinees were assigned with one trainer. The trainer assigned for me had good knowledge abot company because when he was expaling me he had clear concept about what he was teaching me. In between I had my lunch braek and snack brak.

My 1st day at work

1st Sep 2010, my 1st day at work after a break of nearly 1 year. I was so thrilled to have this job & excited too, but still scared. However I was a bit nervous too. I was looking at busy faces around & this got a blank expression on my face, lots of questions in mind & dreams of aspiration & excitement. The 1st hour at work was filled with mixed emotions for me. I wanted to talk a lot, wanted to ask a lot, infact wanted to contribute a lot but did not know how? Finally managing a smile just went straight to my Boss understood my job then went towards my colleagues & learnt what & how they worked. By the end of the day, I was more confident than I was in the morning. So that’s how I ended my day with the a big smile on my face & great enthusiasm in me.

1st September 2010

The interview

The story starts with one phone call on my cell which I always remember 6th of Sep. around 10.30 in morning I received an interview call from HR of a company to come for the interview but I was very happy and nervous too. I went near my wardrobe searching for formals which I was planning to wear for my interview. I was confused what to wear because I had a good collection of formals.
Finally I took a white shirt with blue stripes and black trousers and got ready.
I left home at 1:30 pm because it takes 1 an half hour to reached that place and I reached there by bus.
Yes! I took correct time for reaching there, finally I reached office before half an hour of my interview, the office was on the 7th floor so I had to go there by lift and I walked in……..
And at 5th floor lift stop……. I thought that was power cut “what the hell is this” I was nervous that day and after stucked in that stupid lift my nervousness increases, then lift starts after 5 min and finally I reached  in the office,
The watch man was sitting near gate. I told him “I m coming for interview” than he gave me the direction of waiting room, I went. there were many candidates sitting in that room and waiting for call of interviver, after some time my turns comes I went to the interview room, a nice painted and with comfort chairs and I took permission from HR to come in who was suppose to take my interview and then he starts with some questions, in 15 min my interviews got over and hr told me to wait for half an hour and I came out I was thinking what happened after that and also about the questions which was asked by HR, many things was running in my mind at that time and half an hour passes and now it’s time for results…….

1st September 2010

Finally I got the job

Well I was quite nervous, tensed and ofcoarse scared on that day, but as there is a saying when anything is written in the destiny it will get happen no matters what the situation it is, no matters how you respond to that situation… the same has happened with me on that day, as living far from the family in some other city, it’s very much required to have a job in hand from the financial perspective, from the growth perspective, from the time killing perspective, from the education perspective etc etc.

I m still remembered, I was so puzzled in my life, was struggling hard to get into the job from last few months. I m still remembered I was trying so hard to get through it, I had given so many interviews, posted CV’s to so many places. Finally I got a call on Thursday and called for an interview on Friday, on that day it was a general call for me like I was getting these types of calls daily since I have applied in so many places.

It was a call by an HR from the company, we greet each other with normal greetings and he asked me to come to his office on the next day as my resume was shortlisted in his company. Frankly speaking I became happy, since it was like a new hope for me. So I said yes I will definitely come and asked an address of his company. I had started get into the books to get ready for an interview, I didn’t slept for the whole night in the excitement of an interview because I was really required with the job at that time, I can count that time as a hard time when I was unemployed for 2 months but truly I have learned a lot from that time, it taught me so many things…

Now finally Friday comes I got to get up in formal attire, and need to leave the flat early so that I can reach office before time. I prayed god in all my way, finally reached the office on time, I was called in, the interviewer was so intelligent and confident which was obvious but the most surprising quality was that he was so wise and kind too. He asked me few questions and understands my capability and gave me the chance to get into his company, I was so thankful to him and ofcoarse to the god too… finally I returned back home happily and with a job in my hand. I was so happy to get this job after struggling for it. That’s why it is more valuable for me……

1st September 2010

My interview

I was working in one of the biggest shipping companies from last 6 months. Suddenly one day I received a call from a VP-HR of a company asking if I would like to come for an Interview with a Online Gaming Company.
I was quite excited as I always spent most of my time playing online games. I wanted to know about this industry and be a part of a Gaming Company.
The first thing I did was visited the Company's site and started to read about what does the company do.
Post my MBA I had given many Interviews and was pretty much sure what the questions would be and how I could crack the interview.
I was well prepared and did not want to miss this upportunity and was quite excited about my interview next day. Finally it was 9.00 am and I jumped out of my bed and ran to get ready. It was time to go.
My interview was probably the most unusual of the bunch.
The Interviewer began with questions that I never expected. The interviewer was more interested to know the attitude of the person and not much about what I did in my previous organisations as it was hardly related to any of his work.
Once the interviewer started to explain about the Company and the kind of work they perform it didn’t seem like the project was fully related to my field of experise. However I was very much excited to learn about this industry and to my surprise I also got selected.
I was actually not much concerned about the other details like work timings, salary package, etc that an employee actually is more interested about. I was so excited about the company that I even forgot to ask what time I have to come on the joining date.

1st September 2010

Interview day

My interview....I am Nanci, as I was searching for a job because I had resigned from my previous organization. So I started looking for a new opportunity. Finally the day comes when I got a call for an interview, I was so curiously waiting for this call since I was in a job hunt and really I have seen so much of hurdles by doing so.
My mobile rang and I got a call scheduled on the next day in the morning, I was happy but yeah worried too.

I woke up early in the morning, dressed up in the formal, I did not want to get late for an interview so rushed to the office half an hour ago, when I entered in the office I saw so many candidates were there with me, I got more nervous seeing so many people’s came for an interview on that same day, but finally my name called I got more nervous but I boosted up myself and went into the cabin. One intelligent guy was sitting in a chair with so much of confidence. He introduced to himself and asked so many questions to me. The situation was bit different in this interview I spoke for hardly 10 min and it was the interviewer who spoke for the last 20 mins. He was talking and talking as if he was telling me his life story. Finally the day came when I was called to collect my appointment letter. I got job.

1st September 2010

My 1st interview...

Was my 1st interview still was not nervous. I neither had fear of losing nor had any expectations. But yes knew would have been happy if I get through as my pocket was almost over. I was one of those 10 other people who had come for an interview. My interview lasted hardly for 15 minutes with usual discussion about my education, work experience, what do I do and about the work done here. I had loads of queries as the processes been told were never heard of. I was told in the interview itself about the way work is done here is little different than most of the other MNCs or corporate. They believe in “Limitless Possibilities” And I found it interesting which impressed me. I Got through!!!

1st September 2010

My interview...

I was so bored with my last job so finally I started searching for new job. Finally that day came 16 Aug when I was called for an interview. I got up early in the morning so that I can finish my work and reach interview place before time. It’s better to reach 15-20 minutes before rather than being late. If you are late for your interview it really creates bad impression. As everyone knows first impression is the last impression. I wore my lucky formals; white color shirt with black trouser, black shoes which had 3 inch heels, I was wearing proper make up and my favorite perfume. I was looking amazing!!!

Now I was ready to go for my interview. I reached 10 minutes before time and was waiting in a hall. The name of that hall was Scorpio. There were 5 halls on that floor. When I entered that hall I saw interviewees waiting for same interview. That hall was amazing, it was big to accommodate at least 40 people, and wall was painted light green in color. It had amazing interior. They were already 10 to 12 candidates waiting in that hall and after 10 minutes hall was full. Interview started on time, I waited almost for 2 hours to come my turn because there were 12 candidate before my which were interviewed.

In mean time I had my lunch in same office. They really had good cafeteria. I also had good talk with my friends and decided some plans for night. Now it was my turn to go for interview. I entered in that cabin and finally saw that guy who was taking interview. He introduced himself he was vice president of that company. He asked my many questions and I was able to impress him by my answer and finally I got my appointment letter with a good package. Finally I got my job I was very and was waiting for joining date.

1st September 2010

The interview

So it’s the 1st September 2010. Being Unemployed for 3 months is a sob story in itself. So you can understand my happiness as I stepped into the building for my interview at 3:00pm. I enter and there I find the start-up office (that’s what it looked like) with a couple of computers and a couple of people and a whole lot of empty space the only filling for which are the neatly distributed cubicles.
As soon as I enter a woman pokes her head up and signals me to “come here”. Asking me the purpose I proclaim that I have come for my interview scheduled at 3:15pm. “What are you applying for?” I was lost. In all the excitement I had forgotten to ask the caller this basic question. Being the way I am I had applied for 3 posts ( I will get in one I’d reasoned!). So a little embarrassed ( I made the face and all!) I told her that I had absolutely no clue! She gave me the “What are you doing here then” look and went in search of my interviewer. In walks a “guy” with shorts and t-shirt and slippers! My first reaction is “AWESOME!!!!”. I hesitate to follow him as I stop by the woman and very politely ask her what I’m being interviewed for! “Risk management” she states and already I’m all “This is great!!!”
We enter the interview room and begin. After the general somewhat obvious questions he begins to go to my past workings. “What did you do?” “What else” “How long did that go on for” and all the historical questions. The difference I found was that he ended up asking me by giving me cases, situations, scenarios. I was ecstatic. Being a believer of “?” everything I was at my best. When at my other interviews I ended up declining a position as I found the whole exercise boring, here I was on fire, racking my brains, sometimes failing to get an answer and even being called “You must really be stupid to think in this way!” and man was I loving it. I had the look of “glee” as we began to near the end of it all! (I sensed the end as he began to talk about “What we do here”) And there I was a little uncertain.
The one variable I lack is “experience” and he had begun talking about how much it is important “In this line of work”! In my mind I was literally going “*!@##!!&~^ I’m gonna lose this job cuz of the exp.! Damn it all”. But just as i began this chain of thought he said “but experience i can give... its the attitude i want!” OH YEAH BABY!!! That’s exactly what I told myself and I was not disappointed. He gave me the 90% hired shake-hand as I confirmed that time-line is no issue and that I’d be joining from the 2nd August as that’s what was stipulated in the e-mail.
The next day I get the call. 90% is a 100% I’m in. Beware the “joker” loving 22 yr old is in the building.

1st September 2010

One of its kind…

Waiting calls are so irritating especially when you are planning for Friday evening party. Unknown no…? Who can it be I wondered… but current call is more important so I carried on…. After few minutes again a call from same no… so this time I decided to answer it… And guess what it turns out to be an interview call… I hear my resume is been shortlisted and I’m called for an interview. It sounds very exciting especially in recession to get a interview call but surely not an interview on Saturday… still I make up my mind to attend it… all party plans soon seemed to be fading. Suddenly the priorities changed, no more party dress, now I’m digging hard for some decent formal dress that I can ware for interview. As expected clothes are there but I can’t recollect when I wore them last and this time I hate myself, how could I be so careless, why did I not bother to wash and iron it after using it last time. So it all started from washing clothes... formal dress, formal shoes and a formal bag… everything from top to bottom was formal… even the hair do
